Hi guys, sorry for me not speaking german. However, the kind moderators on this board kindly gave me permission to ask you guys for help Smiley

I've got an HP Visualize J6700 which simply won't power up any more. It worked flawlessly for an entire HP-UX installation session one Thursday a couple of weeks ago. The next time I tried to use the machine was the following Sunday, the same week.

When I connect power, the upper line of the LCD display displays solid rectangles which is normal as far as I can recall from when it worked flawlessly.

At the rear end, I can see the heartbeat LED (orange LED, blinking twice at intervals). At the front, I can see a green LED from the power supply.

Now, if I press the power button, the backlight for the LCD-display turns on, but the rectangles are still there. At the rear, the LEDs for VRM1 and VRM2 turn solid green. All fans start to spin as usual. And nothing more happens.

I still have connections with the unix-admin-guy at the University of Stavanger, where I studied, and he mentioned that he had some HP9000 machines (I believe it was B2000-machines) which had similar symptoms. Most notably that the LCD-display never got past the solid rectangles.

So my hope here is that this is some sort of "common problem" with these machines?

Ah, Stavanger, Norway. Wink

First of all, disconnect mouse and keyboard and try to boot the machine with a serial cable connected to see if it either works or it produces unusual output.

Additionally post your problem in HPs forums at http://itrc.hp.com
If this is a common problem there might be some guys who already know more about it. Smiley
